Deutsche Telekom's T-Online division is launching a converged triple-play service for its home broadband customers, it was announced Friday.

The T-Home service will offer triple-play data, voice and video and will be released in the second half of the year in Germany, France and Spain.

T-Home will be based on Microsoft TV IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) software and set-top boxes provided by Cisco.

"Our objective is to offer customers a convenient 'plug and play' solution that can be set up and operated both quickly and easily," said DT Chairman Kai-Uwe Ricke.

The Cisco set-top box -- the T-Home X 300T -- comes from the KiSS line from KiSS Technologies, a company acquired by Cisco last fall. The device is high-definition capable and offers ports for Ethernet and video equipment.

Microsoft said the deal was its largest European IPTV agreement to date.
