Linksys ships Wireless-G IP cell phones

A line of WiFi cell phones that can make VoIP calls over speedy Wireless-G networks has been released in the United States by Linksys.

The WIP300 and WIP330 phones enable callers to make lower-cost VoIP calls using 802.11g-standard networks that are better known as Wireless-G.

The devices carry an estimated retail price of $220 and $370.

An intuitive user interface on the WIP330 phone allows users to quickly configure the handset to available Wireless-G networks. A built-in browser then accesses the Web so the user can get into VoIP service or check e-mail and receive Internet-based video.

Users of the WIP 300 connect to Wireless-G through a Linksys router by pressing a couple of buttons.
