Telecom New Zealand will demonstrate its wireless broadband laptops next week at the Convergence Oceania show.

The computers include an embedded CDMA EV-DO mobile broadband card that allows users to connect to the Internet automatically without the need to insert a wireless card.

Telecom said in a news release Thursday that the company's CDMA EV-DO network covers much of New Zealand.

The wireless laptops are expected to go on sale later this year.

"We're currently in talks with a number of major notebook manufacturers, and we expect to see Telecom Mobile Broadband-enabled notebooks in the New Zealand market in the near future," said Telecom's Shane Ohlin.
