In Brief: Texas Instruments settles for $70M

Texas Instruments Incorporated announced Friday that it has a reached a settlement in ongoing litigation with Conexant Systems Inc.

According to the settlement, Conexant will pay TI $70 million in the second quarter of 2006, and TI will grant the company a license to essential patents relating to DSL technology.

Litigation going back to 2003 was spurred from patent-license negotiations initiated by TI with a subsidiary of Conexant called Globespan Virata.
