UK judge orders Net providers to censor 3 sites
A U.K. judge has ordered British Internet service providers to censor three popular file sharing websites accused of flouting international copyright rules.
Justice Richard Arnold ruled Thursday that KAT, H33T, and Fenopy used copyright infringement as the "cornerstone of their business model" and should be blocked.
Barring an appeal, all three services will be added to Britain's small but growing list of censored file sharing sites.
U.K. Internet service providers routinely block access to child pornography websites, and the entertainment industry has taken to the courts to add copyright busting services to their blacklists.
A 2010 legal victory against indexing site Newzbin opened the floodgates.
Since then Britain's High Court has ordered blocks on Newzbin clone Newzbin2 and The Pirate Bay, one of the world's most notorious file sharing sites.
