TripAdvisor acquires mobile app GateGuru

Travel ratings website TripAdvisor said Wednesday it has acquired US start-up GateGuru, a mobile app focused on flight and airport information.
TripAdvisor makes money from the travel advertising it packages with listings and mostly user-generated reviews of hotels, flights, vacation packages and other services.
New York-based GateGuru offers users airport restaurant tips and weather forecasts, as well as security wait time estimates.
"GateGuru nicely complements our existing flights products and we look forward to working with the GateGuru team," said Steve Kaufer, TripAdvisor co-founder and chief executive.
Specifics of the deal will not be disclosed, TripAdvisor said.
Liberty Interactive and its affiliated Liberty Ventures control 22 percent of the equity and 57 percent of the total votes of TripAdvisor, which calls itself the world's largest travel site.
