LA city attorney sues to block pot delivery app
Los Angeles is suing to shut down a mobile phone application that arranges medical marijuana home deliveries.
The city attorney's lawsuit, filed Tuesday, alleges that the Nestdrop app violates delivery restrictions contained in Proposition D, the city's medical marijuana law approved by voters last year.
Nestdrop acts as a middleman linking customers with delivery services. Delivery is currently available only in a portion of Los Angeles. Customers must prove they have a doctor's prescription and must be a member of a medical marijuana collective, although they can join a local one through the app.
In a statement, Nestdrop co-founder Michael Pycher calls the lawsuit a bid to restrict patient access to legal medicine and says the company will fight it.
