HP devices to start using Bang & Olufsen audio technology

Hewlett-Packard's PCs, tablets and accessories are going to start using audio technology from Denmark's Bang & Olufsen.

The companies said Tuesday that all HP devices that carry the Bang & Olufsen or B&O Play brand will have a dedicated audio island that isolates the sensitive audio circuits from other signals on the motherboard.

The Bang & Olufsen brand will appear on HP's Spectre, Omen, Envy and select commercial PCs. The B&O Play brand will appear on HP Pavilion PCs, and PC audio accessories.

The first HP devices with Bang & Olufsen and B&O Play audio will be available in the spring.

Shares of Hewlett-Packard Co., based in Palo Alto, California, declined 19 cents to $33.26 in midday trading Tuesday. Its shares are up about 5 percent for the year.
