(AP)—Operators of New York City's bike-sharing program say a software glitch accidentally revealed personal and financial information of more than 1,000 of its account holders.

The Citi Bike program notified affected members of the problem in a July 19 letter, according to The Wall Street Journal, which reviewed the letter. The breach occurred on April 15 and involved data including credit card numbers, security codes and expiration dates.

A spokesman for the city Department of Transportation says nearly 1,200 customers were affected. He didn't explain the delay between the discovery of the and notification of affected customers.

Spokesman Seth Solomonow said there was no evidence any personal information "was maliciously accessed or misused."
