John Green criticizes Amazon.com in book dispute

John Green is the latest author lashing out at Amazon.com.

The author of the best-selling "The Fault In Our Stars" says he worries Amazon is trying to "bully publishers into nonexistence."

Green was responding to a question about the dispute between Amazon and Hachette Book Group, whose authors include J.K. Rowling and James Patterson. Amazon has restricted sales and slowed deliveries for Hachette books while terms for e-book sales are being negotiated. Patterson and fellow Hachette Malcolm Gladwell are among those who have strongly criticized Amazon.

Green is a frequent critic of bullying. He's published by an imprint of Penguin Random House.

"The Fault In Our Stars" was No. 1 on Amazon as of Monday afternoon. The movie adaptation opens Friday.

Seattle-based Amazon says its dispute with Hachette could drag out. Hachette says about 5,000 titles are affected.
